The Penderwicks

Today i finished a book called The Penderwicks.  It is by Jeanne Birdsall.  It is a book about four
sisters and their father when they went on their summer vacation.  Some basic things that I think you should know about the story I am about to tell you are the names of the main characters.  The oldest sisters name is Rosalind than skye than Jane than Batty and last Mr. Penderwick.  There are tree things that really stand out to me about this story.

The first thing that really stands out to me about this book is that their mom died.  In the beginning  of the book they tell that their mom died of sickness after she had Batty.  Now Rosalind is like their mom she make dinner and babysits her sisters.  I know if I was her I could not do that.

The second thing that really stands out to me is where they go on summer vacation. The house that they usually rent go sold.  So they went to a cabin in the mountains it was behind a huge house named Arundel Hall. They stayed in the cabin for three weeks.  While they were there Mrs. Tifton (The lady that owned the cabin) was preparing her gardens for a contest and well lets just say that almost every thing went wrong.  Because Jeffery  had become friends with the Penderwicks and they were messing around. That's what caused all the trouble.

The last thing that stood out to me was how in the end Mrs. Tifton changed.  Mrs. Tifton is Jeffery's mom.  Mrs. Tifton wanted Jeffery to go to military school but Jeffery wanted to play piano.  Jeffery try over and over to tell his mom but she was stubborn and wouldn’t listen.  The day before the Penderwicks left Jeffery got his mom to listen and so she said that Jeffery did not have to go to military school and that he could take piano lessons.  I would be so relived if my mom finely listened to what I had to say.

In the end of the book every thing turns out great.  The Penderwicks went back to their house in Cameron.  And Jeffery got to take piano lessons.  The three things that really stand out to me are that their mom is dead, where they go on summer vacation , and how Mrs. Tifton changed.  This book is out standing it has every thing that a good story has.  I would recommend this book to anyone around my age (12).
